Mean Green Finishing Masala is a blend of herbs & spices created to lift the flavour of a curry.
Just like Garam Masala, this masala is added towards the end of cooking. It can be used instead of Garam Masala or with, for ultimate layers of flavour.
The Masala contains fenugreek leaf or Kasoori Methi leaf (or Kasuri Methi) as it’s otherwise known which adds a lovely savoury, herby flavour, turmeric gives some nice earthy flavours and cinnamon some natural sweetness along with a small amount of sugar. All spice helps give some heady aromatic flavours, while dried mango and lemon give a little tartness and a very small amount of ajwain gives a slight bitterness.
Altogether this magic mix of spices helps accentuate the flavours in your curry, almost like a natural flavour enhancer.
Mean Green Finishing Masala is ideal for people that are not keen on Garam Masala as it doesn’t contain nutmeg or mace, which to some people can taste a little ‘floral’.
We love this Masala used in dishes such as Saag Aloo, Hariyal dishes and Shobuz Masala where it really accentuates those ‘green’ flavours.
