Char Siu Seasoning from ‘Ome Made takes all those Chinese flavours used in this classic dish.
A combination of fennel, cloves, star anise, Sichuan pepper, garlic and other spices is combined with sugar & salt. Ideal for rubbing into pork belly, shoulder, fillet or ribs for the Classic Char Siu pork.
This seasoning is also great on chicken wings, drumsticks or thighs. Or for a vegetarian option, sprinkle over some roasted vegetables or tofu.
For an even more authentic dish, after cooking in ‘Ome Made Char Siu seasoning, use a simple glaze of 1 tbsp, honey, 2 tbsp hoisin sauce, 1 tbsp soya sauce and a little dry sherry or rice wine. Combine all the ingredients in a pan, bring to a simmer and then brush on to your pork or chicken for the last 20 minutes or so of cooking, repeat several times for a thicker stickier finish.
Char Siu Seasoning is also great for adding to your stir-fries for some extra flavour.
